Flora Miranda. Ever heard of her? No? Well, this post is about to change that. The talented designer contacted me a couple of months ago to introduce me her concept. And to be completely honest with you, it was a pleasant discovery for me too. So, who’s she? Let’s get to know each other 🙂
1. Flora Miranda was born in Austria.
2. When I asked her when she got her first taste for fashion, she said: “As a young teenager I participated in the Viennese fashion contest “Kids in Fashion” every year, with some drawings, and each year my drawings made it and the designs were realised by fashion students and were shown on a catwalk. However, that was just a little thing on the side because I was mainly occupied with painting. When I was 16 years old, I had the opportunity to do an internship at a Swiss sports company, where I was more fascinated by the team building and the way the company was built than by the technical drawings the fashion designers were spending their time on. When a year later I was given a book about Belgian fashion design I made my final decision. I remember thinking that what I wanted to do in painting I could bring to the body in 3D. In this book I saw a very artistic approach, an alternative view on beauty and gender. Seeing fashion as an art form and recognising that fashion is more than a technical drawing but rather coordinates various disciplines, I was very drawn to take this path.” Continue reading “10 Things You Didn’t Know About Flora Miranda”→
Paris. Fashion week. Haute couture. Probably the equivalent to “Oh my God! This is so beautiful, get outta here!” (Or “Shut the front door” as James Corden would say). Every single time, I’m blown away by the stunning and dreamy dresses. It’s not necessarily about being wearable, it’s about designing beautiful, heavenly, out of this world looks. At least, that’s the way I see it.
For each show, I selected my favorite looks. And I must admit that for some (I’m looking at you Elie and Zuhair), it was really hard to choose… (All pictures are from Vogue).
