I hope you’re all doing great 🙂
In this post, I’ll write about one of my favorite pieces: la Marinière.
“Les pulls marins vont avec tout, ne se démodent pas et ne se démoderont probablement jamais » – Jean-Paul Gaultier
I own a lot (I mean, A LOT). I don’t think I’ve ever seen a marinière I didn’t like. So I expect to own a lot more over the years 😀 I have various styles: t-shirts, sleeveless top, sweaters, jacket. I also have various colors, although it’s mainly white and blue. Many of my marinières are from Mer du Nord (no pun intended :D), but I also have IKKS, Tommy Hilfiger, and Ralph Lauren.
Why do I like it so much? Long story short -> It’s easy. It’s chic. But it’s still casual. Let’s see how you can style it.
The most obvious combo is Marinière + Blue Denim. It’s foolproof. Trust me, you can never go wrong with that. And I must admit, when I don’t know what to wear, it’s often my go-to look. And depending on the specificity of each piece and the way you accessorize, you can make your look more chic or more casual:
- If you pair your blue jeans with a white and blue top, heels and nice blazer, you have a chic outfit for a night out for instance
- If you pair your blue jeans with a colorful marinière, and sneakers, you have a great basis for a casual day
The marinière is great with White Jeans too. This is super chic, even with a pair of flats or even a pair of sneakers. This is perfect for a sunny day; or a day spent at the beach.
Another interesting combo is Marinière + Maxi Skirt. The colors have to go together, obviously, but it’s definitely an original way to style this piece. You can add a leather perfecto for an edgier look.
If you have a striped jacket, you can use it to spice up a total look white for instance. Or to make your blue jeans + white tee combo more sophisticated.
And the easiest of the easiest piece: the dress!
If you don’t have one (or two, or three), you can definitely buy this piece. To me, it’s timeless!
How do you wear your marinière? Let me know in the comments 🙂
